The Story Of My First Electric Guitar

It was the summer of 2010. I had just finished my 10th boards, and my brother had come home from college.

One evening, casually, he asked me, “Hey, my friend has an electric guitar and an amp lying around… do you want it?”

I froze.

He said it was a Fender. My jaw dropped. A Fender?!

I couldn’t believe it. Of course, it turned out to be a Squier, not a Fender but to me, that didn’t matter. That was my first ever electric guitar.

I still remember holding it for the first time, plugging it in, and feeling like I had just unlocked a whole new world.

That one moment changed the direction of my life.

over the years

The Guitar took me places.

What started as random riffs in my room slowly turned into something bigger.

That first electric guitar took me places, literally.

I found myself studying music at KM Music Conservatory in Chennai, and even walked the halls of Berklee College of Music during a summer program.

Every step, every place, every photo here was because of that one spark.

“I can’t explain it. It’s something you have to feel. The guitar is not just an instrument, it’s an extension of who I am.” — Slash

What I Learnt the Hard Way

This guitar took me places, but not without detours.

I’ve studied at KM Music Conservatory, attended Berklee’s summer program, and learned from countless hours of self-teaching online. And after all that, here’s what I’ve realized:

Watching a lesson isn’t enough. Real progress happens when you use what you learn.

Not just by memorizing theory. But by actually playing it. Every day. In real situations. With feel. With flow.

Over the years, I moved past basic chords and pop songs. I started chasing tone, phrasing, groove.

I practiced obsessively.
I listened to Guthrie Govan and John Mayer like textbooks.

I made mistakes.
A lot of them.

But that’s when I leveled up.

And I realized, most guitar learners never cross that line into intermediate playing, not because they lack talent, but because no one shows them how to practice the right things, in the right way.

That’s why I made this course.

This was the first real video I ever posted on my YouTube Channel  — “Waves” by Guthrie Govan. Still gives me goosebumps.

The 3 things to focus on

Shapes

Master chord shapes across the fretboard so you can play confidently in any key.

Scales

Understand how notes connect to create melodies, improvise, and unlock musical freedom.

Solos

Learn to Play expressive solos that actually sound like music, not just exercises.

What I Wish I Realized Sooner...

There was a point where I realized I was learning too much and playing too little.

Every tutorial felt useful, every video felt important, but when I picked up the guitar, I wasn’t creating anything.
So I started cutting back.

That’s when it hit me, This doesn’t have to be this complicated.

I closed everything, picked up my guitar, and asked myself, what do I actually need to play better, today?

The answer was simple:
Simplification & Clarity

What I needed wasn’t more information.

What I needed was a path.

It all came down to three things:
Shapes, Scales, and Solos.

A structure that respected my time, challenged me just enough, and gave me permission to enjoy the guitar again.

That’s why I created this course.
